Ballina Dragons Meitheal Abhainn is seeking a Trustee with strong accounting expertise to strengthen financial governance at Board level.

We require a financially qualified professional who understands fiduciary responsibility and is confident providing independent scrutiny, challenge, and oversight in line with the Charities Governance Code and Irish regulatory obligations.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

• Provide strategic financial oversight to the Board

• Review and approve annual accounts prior to submission

• Ensure compliance with Charities Regulator reporting requirements

• Oversee financial controls, reserves, risk management, and asset protection

• Scrutinise budgets, cashflow, and restricted funding

• Support financial sustainability planning

This is not a bookkeeping role. It is a governance role requiring independence, sound judgement, and a strong grasp of charity compliance.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified accountant or senior financial management experience

• Experience reviewing financial statements and control frameworks

• Clear understanding of trustee duties under Irish charity law

• Strong governance mindset
