Trustee with Finance experience

The Deansrath Family Centre is seeking someone with financial governance experience to join the Board of Management. This is a voluntary role for someone who cares deeply about strong governance, community wellbeing and meaningful local impact.

About the Role

The Finance Board Member will support the organisation’s financial oversight, ensuring robust governance as we continue to grow and advance our capital development plans. This includes contributing to strategic decision-making, supporting compliance, and helping the Centre steward resources responsibly - especially as we fundraise approximately €6 million to build a new state-of-the-art family centre in St. Cuthbert’s Park, Clondalkin, Dublin.

You will be joining a small, hands-on board with a strong vested interest in seeing this capital project brought to life for the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide financial oversight to the Board, including reviewing budgets, management accounts, and financial reports
  • Support best-practice financial governance, risk management, and compliance
  • Advise on funding, sustainability, and financial aspects of the Centre’s strategic plans, including the new community building project
  • Attend board meeting and contribute to subcommittees as required
  • Act as a collaborative, supportive, and engaged member of the Board of Management

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience in finance, accounting, auditing, or related fields
  • Understanding of nonprofit or community-sector governance (desirable but not essential)
  • Commitment to the mission of Deansrath Family Centre and the families we serve
  • Someone who values integrity, transparency, good governance and community wellbeing

Time Commitment

Approximately 6-8 meetings per year, including preparation and occasional subcommittee work. Meetings are generally held at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre or The Fumbally, Dublin 8.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to use your professional skills to support a high-impact community organisation serving over 400 families annually — and to contribute to a transformational capital project that will bring a first-of-its-kind family centre to life in St. Cuthbert’s Park.
