Trustee with Finance Experience

The Organisation:

Bray Women’s Refuge Housing Association CLG (BWR) was established in 1978 and is a charity in the domestic violence sector. Its mission is to provide information, support and short-term accommodation to women and children who have experienced domestic abuse and to provide support to women and men through the outreach service, Anu Wicklow Outreach Service. Due to the upcoming retirement of its current Treasurer, BWR is now seeking a Finance professional to join its voluntary Board of Trustees.

General duties of a Charity Trustee:

• Comply with BWR’s Code of Conduct
• Act in the best interest of BWR
• Ensure BWR complies with its charitable purpose for public benefit
• Manage the charity’s assets
• Act with reasonable care and skill 

The Role:

BWR is seeking an individual with proven knowledge in financial management or accountancy.

Desired qualifications:

The candidate must be a qualified accountant with a CIMA or ACA qualification. Ideally the candidate will have at least 5 years management experience.

Responsibilities will include the following:

• To be an authorised signatory of the Charity
• The successful candidate will be appointed to the BWR Finance Committee. Their role will be to evaluate and monitor the adequacy of financial controls and procedures and to ensure the organisation is compliant with best practice principles.
• Have oversight of compliance and risk management in line with usual board responsibilities

Board Meetings:

There will be eight meetings per year and four sub-committee meetings a year. Meetings are held in Bray Co. Wicklow and alternate between in-person and online formats.
