St. Helena’s Childcare Centre strives to provide a high-quality childcare service for children and their families living in the Finglas area. We offer a range of affordable childcare options to enable parents to avail of educational, training and work opportunities. We provide a holistic curriculum for children that merges all areas of their life and development and allows each child to reach their full potential.
The Role:
St. Helena’s Childcare Centre is seeking a Finance Board Member.
Role Requirements and Key Responsibilities Include:

Advise and guide the board on financial matters and compliance.

Have a deep insight into all financial policies and controls and propose any recommendations for change.

Have oversight of compliance and risk management.

Evaluate and monitor the adequacy of financial controls and procedures and ensure the organisation is compliant with best practice principles.

Oversight of compliance and risk management in line with usual board responsibilities
Skills and Experience Required:

Must be a fully qualified accountant, working/having worked at a senior level.

Must be available to attend board meetings, and committee meetings as required.

Experience in the voluntary/not-for-profit sector or childcare field in Ireland would be welcomed.

Previous board experience is desirable.

Alignment with the mission and values of the organisation.
Charities Regulator’s General Duties of a Charity Board Member:

Comply with the charity’s governing document.

Ensure the charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit.

Act in the best interest of the charity.

Act with reasonable care and skill.

Manage the assets of your charity.
Board Meetings:
There are a minimum of six board meetings a year. Meetings run approximately 1.5 hours in duration and are held in-person at St Helena’s Childcare Centre, Finglas, Dublin 11. There will be an opportunity to review the board meetings schedule.
Subcommittees:
Subcommittees meet as required.
