Trustee with Corporate Structure & Governance Experience

The Organisation:

Deaf Sports Ireland is a non-profit Sport Ireland funded National Governing Sports Body with a remit to provide and develop sports and sporting activities for the Irish Deaf & Hard of Hearing community at grassroots, national and International levels.

The Role:

The Board of Management of Deaf Sports Ireland are seeking to recruit a trustee with a background and expertise in corporate structure, governance models and tax compliance methods. DSI are an unincorporated body that are looking to become a registered not-for-profit/charity. 

General Trustee duties of the Governance Trustee

• Comply with DSI's Governance Policy.
• Ensure DSI's compliance with Sport Ireland's governance policies. 
• Act with reasonable care and skill.

Responsibilities 

• Provide input to the strategic direction of DSI and contribute with insight, oversight and experience of strategy formulation in the non for profit sector.
• Policy formation and implementation as required. 

 Essential Skills/Qualities required for these roles:

• A deep appreciation and knowledge of the Not for Profit Sector.
• An understanding of and commitment to DSI Values and Ethos.
• A commitment to the highest levels of corporate governance.

 Board Meetings:

• There will be twelve board meetings and four sub-committee meetings a year.

• Meetings are held primarily via the Zoom platform but occasionally in person meetings will take place in Deaf Village Ireland, Cabra, Dublin.
