The Organisation:
Deaf Sports Ireland is a non-profit Sport Ireland funded National Governing Sports Body with a remit to provide and develop sports and sporting activities for the Irish Deaf & Hard of Hearing community at grassroots, national and International levels.
The Role:
The Board of Management of Deaf Sports Ireland are seeking to recruit a trustee with a background and expertise in corporate structure, governance models and tax compliance methods. DSI are an unincorporated body that are looking to become a registered not-for-profit/charity.
General Trustee duties of the Governance Trustee
- Comply with DSI's Governance Policy.
- Ensure DSI's compliance with Sport Ireland's governance policies.
- Act with reasonable care and skill.
Responsibilities
- Provide input to the strategic direction of DSI and contribute with insight, oversight and experience of strategy formulation in the non for profit sector.
- Policy formation and implementation as required.
Essential Skills/Qualities required for these roles:
- A deep appreciation and knowledge of the Not for Profit Sector.
- An understanding of and commitment to DSI Values and Ethos.
- A commitment to the highest levels of corporate governance.
Board Meetings:
- There will be twelve board meetings and four sub-committee meetings a year.

Meetings are held primarily via the Zoom platform but occasionally in person meetings will take place in Deaf Village Ireland, Cabra, Dublin.
