Charity Trustee – Generalist Role
The Organisation:
The Neurology Support Centre is a Sligo-based charity, serving those in the Northwest impacted by a neurological condition. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for those affected by neurological conditions through targeted services, support, and activities; to advocate for improved neurological services locally and nationally; and to support the provision of improved clinical neurological services in our local hospitals and wider community.
Our member services include Peer Support Groups, counselling, holistic therapies including reflexology and neuro-reflexology, exercise classes and other recreational activities such as art, gardening, etc. We also provide vital transport for people attending our own services and other neurological appointments
The Role:
- The Neurology Support Centre is seeking to recruit a trustee with an interest in the neurology / not-for-profit area, including perhaps lived experience as a person with a neurological condition, or a family member / caregiver.
- Experience of or interest in fund-raising would also be beneficial.

- Manage the assets of your charity
By being a trustee of The Neurology Support Centre, your responsibilities will include the following:
- Providing input to the strategic direction of the organisation and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience at board meetings and any additional commitments
- Policy development and implementation as required
- Sitting on a sub-committee according to your interests, skills and experience.
Desired Skills/Qualities required for these roles:
- An interest in neurology / neurological conditions
- An appreciation and knowledge of the Not-For-Profit sector
- An understanding of and commitment to our mission and values
- Commitment to highest levels of corporate governance.
Board Meetings:
There will be 4 board meetings and up to 4 sub-committee meetings a year. Meetings are normally held in the premises of the charity in Sligo, but may also be facilitated as a virtual meeting. Training will be provided.
