Treasurer
Bodywhys is seeking a Treasurer to join our Board and help strengthen our financial governance and long-term sustainability.
Bodywhys is the national voluntary organisation supporting people affected by eating disorders. Our mission is to ensure support, awareness and understanding of eating disorders amongst the wider community as well as advocating for the rights and healthcare needs of people affected by eating disorders.
The Role
This is a voluntary, non-executive Board role.
The Treasurer plays a key role in supporting Bodywhys to maintain transparent and well managed finances that are aligned with best practice for a charity organisation. The Bodywhys Board meets approximately 6 times per year (inclusive of AGM) with meetings a mix of face to face and online. The Bodywhys finance committee meets approximately 6 times a year either on line or in person. The finance committee meetings take place in advance of the Board meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Governance
- Act as chair of the finance committee.
- Provide oversight and explain Income and Expenditure (I&E) reports at Board meetings
- Support budgeting, cashflow awareness and basic financial planning
- Identify and highlight financial risks, or opportunities to the Board
- Support the preparation and review of annual accounts
- Assist the Board in understanding the accounts prior to approval
External Liaison
- Act as the main Board contact with Bodywhys and the organisation’s external accountants on all financial matters.
Board & Organisational Support
- Contribute as a full Board member to strategy, planning and governance
- Support compliance with charity legal and regulatory requirements
