Seeking a Board Director with Legal Expertise for a Healthcare Focused Board [IEQAS]

The Irish External Quality Assessment Scheme, CLG, is the national not-for-profit Independent External Quality Assurance (EQA) provider with over 40 years of experience. IEQAS is overseen by a dedicated Board of Directors and steering committee and is further supported by the Irish professional bodies in laboratory medicine.

Our mission is to enhance patient care by independently assessing the analytical performance of clinical laboratories and primary care across Ireland.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from experienced legal professionals with a passion for healthcare to join our Board of Directors.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute legal insight at the strategic level and help guide the organisation’s ongoing growth and governance in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. As an IEQAS Director, you will join a small Board and help shape the overall financial, legal and strategic development of the company. 

Time Commitment
The Board meets 4–5 times annually (typically <1 hour, via Zoom), with occasional additional follow-up or email communication between meetings.

Remuneration
This is a voluntary, unpaid role. The value lies in contributing to national healthcare improvement and strategic development at board level.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Legal qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of corporate governance and regulatory frameworks

  • A strong interest in the healthcare or not-for-profit sector

 

Desirable

  • Prior board-level experience in a healthcare, regulatory or public sector environment

  • Good working knowledge of the Health Service Executive (HSE)
