Finance Trustee
The Organisation:
Foscadh is the Irish word for shelter. Our Mission Statement is to provide accessible and affordable social housing of the highest quality that nurtures and supports communities.
General Board Responsibilities will include the following:
- Comply with the organisation’s governing document
- Committing to the highest levels of corporate governance
- Providing input to the strategic direction of the organisation
- Attend occasional events, training, and seminars
As a Financial Trustee of Foscadh Housing, your specific responsibilities will encompass:
- Acquiring a comprehensive insight into all financial policies and controls governing the organisation’s financial activities. Utilise your expertise to propose relevant recommendations for enhancing or modifying these policies to ensure robust financial management.
- Advising the Board on financial implications related to proposed initiatives and decisions. Providing a comprehensive overview of the organisation’s finances, helping to identify potential cash flow challenges and other financial concerns.
- Taking an active role in identifying financial risks faced by Foscadh Housing. Collaborating with the Board and relevant committees to develop effective risk management strategies.
- As a financial Trustee, you will serve as an authorised signatory for the charity. This grants you the responsibility to sign official documents and financial transactions on behalf of the organisation.
- As part of your role, you will join the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee (ARAC) as Chairperson. In this capacity, you will play a key role in evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness of financial controls and procedures. This will include reviewing financial reports, audited accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
The ideal candidate for the position of Finance Trustee at Foscadh should possess the following qualifications and attributes.
- The candidate must hold a recognized professional accounting qualification such as ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant) or CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants).
- Ideally, the Finance trustee will have a minimum of five years of senior management experience.
- The Financial trustee should have a clear understanding of Foscadh Housing's mission and values.
- The Financial trustee needs to possess a comprehensive understanding of the not- for-profit sector, including the unique financial, governance, and regulatory aspects of charitable organisations.
- The Finance trustee must be dedicated and capable of devoting sufficient time and effort to fulfil the role's responsibilities effectively.
Board Meetings:
Foscadh Housing holds its Board Meetings in person approximately six times per year. .Meetings take place at the Foscadh Housing offices in Drogheda, Co. Louth. The meetings are conducted in the evenings, typically beginning at 4pm. All ARAC meetings are held on line.
