Chair

Outline:

The Bawnogue Youth & Community Centre is looking for a dynamic and visionary leader with exceptional skills to step forward as our Chairperson.

Board meetings – once per month, 6:30pm typically mid-week.

Manager meetings – once per month & ad hoc as needed. Our Centre Manager reports into the Chair.

Key Responsibilities:
We want our centre to be a space that brings people together and creates opportunities for a brighter future. We need our new Chair to help us deliver this. 

Provide an independent voice at board level to ensure an objective perspective and ensure the views of all stakeholders are considered equally.
Chair board meetings, setting agendas in consultation with the Secretary and ensuring effective decision-making and follow-through on actions.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary spokesperson for the Centre, building strong relationships with stakeholders, including staff, our community and our service users

Development: To support our Centre Manager, and develop our Centre

What's Required

The specification of a person who may be interested in undertaking this role may include:
· Passion for community development, social inclusion, equality, and promotion of diversity
· A willingness to understand the issues affecting the voluntary & community sector, the early childhood education and care sector and the wider child and family support sector
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse stakeholders
· Ability to commit the necessary time and energy to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
Ability to play a strategic role to successfully effect change and meet objectives of the centre
