Chair

Title of Position: Chairperson

Area of Responsibility: Canal Communities Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force (CCLDATF), covering Bluebell, Inchicore and Rialto.

Term of Office: 3 years.

Salary and Remuneration: The Chairperson is a voluntary, non-salaried position. Reasonable travel and phone expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with public financial regulations.

Time Commitment: It is estimated that the role will require approximately two working days per month.

The Chairperson will be expected to:

·        Chair the monthly CCLDATF Task Force meeting.

·        Chair the monthly CCLDATF Board meeting.

·        Attend the monthly Finance Meeting.

·        Attend the monthly Regional/Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force Chairpersons Network meeting.

·        Meet monthly with the Coordinator to review the work and priorities of the CCLDATF.

·        Meet with CCLDATF staff approximately twice yearly.

·        Attend bi-annual meetings with the HSE.

·        Attend other relevant meetings or events with the HSE, Department of Health, Oireachtas, statutory agencies and community and voluntary organisations as required.

Desirable Competencies

It is desirable that the successful candidate has:

·        Experience of bringing people and organisations from different sectors together and working effectively in partnership.

·        An understanding of drugs and alcohol issues, social inclusion and community development.

·        Experience of strategic and operational planning.

·        Knowledge or experience of staff, team or organisational governance.

·        A collaborative and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.

·        An understanding of community safety and violence intervention issues.

·        Previous experience in a Chairperson or similar leadership role.
