Board Trustee Opportunity - NiteLine Ireland
Are you an experienced professional looking to use your skills to make a meaningful impact on student mental health in Ireland?
NiteLine Ireland is seeking committed and passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees. This post offers the opportunity to contribute to the governance and strategic direction of one of Ireland's leading student support charities.
NiteLine is a registered Irish charity providing a free, confidential, anonymous, non-judgemental and non-directive listening and information service for third-level students across Ireland. Founded in 1993, NiteLine supports more than 150,000 students through its peer-led services and mental health advocacy initiatives.
As a previous Good Governance Awards shortlisted charity, NiteLine Ireland is committed to the highest standards of governance and is seeking trustees who will help us continue to strengthen and grow our impact
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in any of the following:
- Corporate Governance
- Board governance and effectiveness
- Risk management and compliance
- Strategic planning and organisational development
And/or
- Legal
- Charity and company law
- Regulatory compliance
- Data protection and governance
- Employment or commercial law experience
And/or
- Marketing & Communications
- Brand strategy and awareness
- Digital marketing and social media
- Public relations and stakeholder engagement
- Fundraising and campaign development
Key Responsibilities
As a Trustee, you will:
- Provide governance oversight and strategic guidance.
- Act in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries.
- Support the delivery of NiteLine's mission and long-term strategic objectives.
- Monitor organisational performance, risk and compliance.
- Serve on Board committees or support specific projects where relevant expertise can add value.
- Act as an ambassador for NiteLine and help expand its network of supporters and partners.
We Are Looking For
Individuals who:
- Have senior professional experience in one of the areas outlined above.
- Demonstrate strong ethical standards and sound judgement.
- Are passionate about supporting student wellbeing and mental health.
- Can contribute strategically and collaboratively within a governance setting.
- Are committed to diversity, inclusion and good governance practices.
Previous board experience is prefrerred.
Time Commitment
- Approximately 4-6 Board meetings per year.
- Participation in committee meetings and occasional strategic planning sessions.
- Board meetings are conducted both in-person in Dublin and online.
