TREASURER – BOARD TRUSTEE
Localise is a national youth and community organisation with the aim of creating a world where all young people have the opportunity to volunteer locally and become pro-active citizens and community leaders.
Our vision is an Ireland where volunteering is part of the norm for young people and is formally recognised as a pathway for education and employment.
Our mission is to provide easily accessible volunteering opportunities to every young person in Ireland.
We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Directors. If you have a background in finance, accounting, audit, banking, business or financial governance and would like to play a role in supporting Localise National Youth Volunteers, we’re keen to hear from you.
ROLE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCE & GOVERNANCE
• Provide financial leadership, advice and oversight to the Board.
• Review budgets, management accounts, financial forecasts, cash flow and reserves.
• Support the Board in ensuring appropriate financial controls, policies and risk management arrangements are in place.
• Review annual financial statements and liaise with external accountants/auditors as appropriate.
• Provide oversight of significant grants, funding arrangements and restricted funds.
• Advise the Board on financial sustainability, reserves and significant financial decisions.
• Help ensure compliance with relevant charity, company, financial and governance requirements.
The Treasurer is a Board governance role and is not responsible for the day-to-day management of Localise’s finances.
SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALL BOARD MEMBERS INCLUDE:
• Comply with the Charity’s governing document.
• Ensure the charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit.
• Act in the best interests of the charity.
• Act with reasonable care and skill.
• Manage the assets of the charity responsibly.
• Contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s goals while practising the highest standards of corporate governance.
BOARD MEETINGS
There will be five Board meetings per year. Meetings are held in Glasnevin, Dublin 11, with a hybrid option if necessary.
APPLICATIONS
Candidates interested in being considered for this vacancy should send a letter of interest outlining their relevant experience and explaining why they would like to put themselves forward specifically for the role of Treasurer.
Applicants should ideally have senior-level experience in finance, accounting, audit, banking, business or governance. A professional accountancy qualification is desirable but is not essential where substantial relevant financial and governance experience can be demonstrated.
All applicants must confirm that they do not have any conflicts of interest which would be likely to interfere with their ability to play a full part on the Board. They must also confirm that they can make themselves available to attend meetings and carry out the duties of a Board member.
