About Bradóg Youth Services
Bradóg Youth Services is a long-established, community-based youth organisation supporting young people across the North Inner City. We deliver a range of developmental, educational, creative, and support programmes designed to empower young people, reduce social exclusion, and build strong community connections. Our work is rooted in the values of inclusion, respect, participation, and empowerment.
Bradóg is currently delivering an ambitious five-year strategic plan focusing on programme quality, organisational resilience, governance strengthening, and expanded community impact.
Role Overview
Bradóg Youth Services is seeking a new Board Member with Finance / Accountancy expertise to support the organisation’s financial stewardship, sustainability, and strategic decision-making.
The Board Member will sit on the Finance, HR & Audit Committee, providing leadership and specialist insight on financial management, budgeting, reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
As with all Bradóg board roles, this person will act as an ambassador for the organisation and contribute to strategic development, supporting the implementation of the five-year plan.
Key Responsibilities
Board Responsibilities
- Provide strategic insight and constructive oversight to support delivery of Bradóg’s five-year strategic plan
- Contribute to Board decision-making on budgets, financial sustainability, and organisational performance
- Ensure Bradóg maintains strong financial governance, transparency, and accountability
- Act as an ambassador for Bradóg in relevant professional and community networks
- Support fundraising, funding strategy, and long-term financial planning where appropriate
- Attend approximately 6–8 board meetings per year, typically held in the evenings with hybrid options
Finance, HR & Audit Committee Responsibilities
- Provide oversight of budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting processes
- Review financial performance, management accounts, and long-term financial sustainability
- Support the development and monitoring of financial controls, policies, and procedures
- Engage with external auditors and support the annual audit process
- Advise on financial risks, reserves policy, and going-concern considerations
- Ensure compliance with charity financial reporting requirements and best practice standards
Person Specification
Essential
- Professional experience in finance, accountancy, audit, or financial management
- Strong understanding of financial governance and organisational oversight
- Ability to interpret financial reports and provide strategic insight
- Excellent judgement, integrity, and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to the mission and values of Bradóg Youth Services
- Willingness to dedicate time and expertise on a voluntary basis
Desirable
- Professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience in the nonprofit / charity sector
- Familiarity with charity financial reporting and regulatory requirements
- Previous board or committee experience
Time Commitment
- Board Meetings: 6–8 per year
- Finance, HR & Audit Committee: 3–5 per year
- Additional availability for financial oversight or advisory support as required
