The Care Trust is seeking a Board member with expertise in fundraising or business development.

 The Organisation:

The Care Trust is a registered charity raising funds from the general public on behalf of our Charity Partners CRC and Rehab Group.

 For over 50 years, The Care Trust has been unlocking potential and driving meaningful change in the services of our Charity Partners across Ireland. By connecting generous supporters with high-impact opportunities, we raise vital funds that enable our Charity Partners to deliver life-changing services, promoting health, independence and inclusion for adults and children with disabilities.

Behind every donation is a real and immediate impact: a child accessing therapy sooner, an adult gaining independence, a family finding support when it matters most. This is what drives us.

Working alongside our Charity Partners CRC and Rehab Group, we ensure that funding reaches where it is needed most, strengthening services, enabling innovation and reducing barriers to opportunity.

The mission statement of The Care Trust is to raise funds to enable innovation, development and enhancement in the services of our Charity Partners that will make demonstrable differences to the lives, potential and well-being of the people our Charity Partners support.

Our Charity Partners:

CRC provides disability services for children and adults, as well as highly specialist national services. CRC helps individuals reach their full potential through therapy, medical care, and support.

Rehab Group provides services to more than 12,800 people every year. Working with children and adults with disabilities and their families, and people who need support to live more meaningful lives of their choosing.

The Care Trust works closely with CRC and Rehab, our owners, as well as our Charity Partners, aligning our mission and work with their strategic priorities and the opportunities their services offer to enhance the life experience and realise the potential of the people they support.

Role Overview:

As a Board Member of The Care Trust, you will contribute to the governance, strategic direction, and overall success of the charity. You will help to ensure the organisation fulfils its mission, adheres to its values, and meets legal and ethical standards.

This is the first time that The Care Trust is seeking Independent Board Directors. Board Directors have been nominated by CRC and Rehab Group. We are seeking Independent Directors to support us to continue to strengthen our Board skills and capabilities and support our leadership and strategic oversight of the charity.

General duties of a Charity Trustee

• Comply with the Charity’s governing document
• Ensuring the charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
• Acting in the best interest of the charity
• Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
• Manage the assets of the charity

Trustee Responsibilities will include the following:

• Inputting to the strategic direction of The Care Trust specifically within the area of fundraising and development contributing with insight, oversight and experience of strategy formulation in other sectors.
• Providing advice and Input on aspects pertaining to fundraising and development.
• Attend and actively participate in Board meetings (4 per year), including annual general meetings (1 per year) and Board Committee meetings (2-4 per year).
• Provide support and guidance to the leadership team, including the CEO.
• Participate in recruitment efforts to fill Board vacancies and senior staff positions as necessary.
• Provide expertise and advice on organisational challenges, leveraging your professional skills and network.

 Qualifications & Skills:

• Commitment to the mission and values of The Care Trust.
• Previous board experience (preferred but not required).
• Expertise in fundraising and development
• Ability to think strategically and contribute to high-level discussions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with charity governance practices and duties.

 Time Commitment and Compensation:

• The Board of The Care Trust meets 4/5 times per year in person.
• This is a voluntary position; however, expenses related to Board activities, will be reimbursed according to The Care Trust's policies.
