Board Member with Financial Experience
We are a large, diverse social care organisation with over 500 staff that supports thousands of people each year across Dublin and the surrounding areas. Our work spans homelessness and housing, youth and community services, food poverty, residential care, counselling and specialist information and advocacy and support for migrants, refugees and Irish emigrants. At the heart of all our services is a commitment to supporting people at difficult points in their lives and helping them achieve greater stability, independence and opportunity.
Crosscare is seeking an experienced finance professional to join our Board and contribute to the strong governance, financial oversight and future sustainability of the organisation.
The Finance Board Member will bring senior-level financial expertise and an independent perspective to Board discussions, helping the Board to understand and oversee Crosscare’s financial position, risks and longer-term financial planning. Working alongside fellow Board members and the senior management team, they will provide constructive challenge and support on financial matters while maintaining the appropriate distinction between governance and operational management.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
- A recognised professional accountancy or senior finance qualification.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, risk and internal controls.
- Experience of operating in a complex organisation with significant annual expenditure.
- An understanding of publicly funded services, government funding arrangements or the voluntary/social care sector would be valuable.
Previous Board experience is welcome but is not essential. Crosscare is particularly interested in people who can combine strong financial expertise with an understanding of a Board member's responsibilities and an interest in the social impact of our work.
