The overall function of North Dublin Citizen Information Service is to deliver Citizens Information Services in accordance with a Service Level Agreement with the Citizens Information Board
The main objects of the North Dublin Citizens Information Service are as follows:
The advancement of education and to benefit the community within the Region through the provision of a free and confidential information, advice, and advocacy service to the community.
As a Board Director, you will play a pivotal role in steering our organisation towards even greater heights. You will contribute your skills, insights, and leadership to drive our mission forward, ensuring that we continue to offer life-changing support to those in need. The Board will oversee and support the provision of services to the public who require information, advice, and advocacy in relation to their rights and entitlements.
Board members must have an understanding of the values and importance of serving local communities and have governance experience and expertise.
Your responsibilities will include:
Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to shape the organisation's strategic direction.
Governance: Provide guidance and oversight, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies, while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and transparency.
Advocacy: Be a passionate advocate for our organisation's mission, raising awareness and support within the community and among potential partners.
We are currently seeking individuals to sit on our Finance and Risk Committee
Qualifications:
We are looking for an individual who possesses:
- To have an insight into all Financial policies and controls and propose any recommendations for change.

To participate in the Finance committee of NDCIS.

To assist oversight and monitoring of the adequacy of Financial controls and procedures and ensure NDCIS is compliant with best practice principles.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:
· An understanding of the work and remit of the Citizens Information Services and the wider environment in which the Citizens Information Services operates;
· The ability to critically analyse information, constructively challenge the opinions of others, work to a shared consensus and accept collective responsibility for board decisions;
· A strong awareness of good governance, including the ability to understand board level financial data, together with an appreciation of budgeting and sound financial management practices in relation to the significant state funding received from the CIB.
· The ability to take a broad perspective on the future strategic development of the organisation and its services;
· A strong sense of ethics and integrity together with a clear understanding of good governance practices including the role and responsibilities of boards and of individual
Commitments:
The committtee meets monthyly online. You may be also asked to be reasonably accessible for ad-hoc meetings in-between scheduled meetings and specific task committee meetings.
Candidates Location:
To facilitate occasional face to face meetings candidates should be willing to travel to North Dublin.
