Board Member

Inspire Zambia clg is an Irish charity (CHY 23113) working with deprived communities in Zambia to improve education, literacy and life opportunities for sustainable social and economic development. We work to support schools, teachers, literacy and education in Zambia by the provision of books and teaching materials from Ireland, the construction and running of libraries in Zambia and by bringing volunteers from Ireland to Zambia to deliver teacher-training workshops and skills-training for those involved in education in Zambia. We also have a small microfinance loan programme, to support the founding and development of small businesses, as a means of escaping poverty. We work in partnership with many government, school, church and community-based organisations in Zambia. We are seeking new Board members who can devote time and skill to help us grow our fundraising capacity and to develop corporate partnerships here in Ireland, which might also include longer-term volunteering opportunities as well as financial support. We also are seeking board members who could help raise our profile, marketing and awareness of our work. Joining our Board is an opportunity to use your skills, experience and networks to help increase our impact and, ultimately, to support more communities in Zambia.

Desired Board Roles and Skillsets:
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or networks in:

Fundraising and corporate sponsorship – helping to develop new income streams and particularly longer-term partnerships and fundraising opportunities which might help us to plan with more confidence for the future.
Marketing and communications – raising awareness of our charity and image and promoting the work and impact of Inspire Zambia, with a view to growing support from funders, volunteers, and even donors of the materials which we need for our work, such as books, school materials and warehouse space in Dublin.
Corporate partnerships and networking – building longer-term relationships with businesses and potential supporters, perhaps through the development of corporate social responsibility .
Volunteer recruitment – helping us attract more skilled volunteers, particularly teachers and librarians and computer experts, to participate in our volunteer trips to Zambia.

We are also open to meeting candidates with other skills, experience and fresh ideas who are passionate about helping us grow and increase the impact of our work in Zambia.
