The Sue Ryder Foundation Ireland (SRFI) is a charity and Approved Housing Body under the auspices of both the Charities Regulator and the Approved Housing Body Regulatory Authority.  Founded in the late 1970s, it  provides secure, independent living accommodation for people in need of housing at six residences across the country.  In addition, it runs 20 charity shops to subsidise its operation.

SRFI is now seeking two additional Board Members, one with project management experience and another with legal expertise. Both roles provide meaningful opportunities to contribute at a strategic level to an organisation that supports almost 300 residents in six residences. As a board member you will play a key role in safeguarding the overall health of SRFI, ensuring that the organisation can continue to grow, innovate and support independent living into the future.

About the Roles

The Board members oversee the policy and governance of SRFI by ensuring full compliance with the Foundation’s five-year Strategic Plan and with the relevant regulatory authorities. SRFI is currently embarking on a major retrofit programme and further house builds are planned over the coming years.  Officers are elected at the AGM and serve three-year terms subject to a maximum of 10 years.

We are seeking someone who brings either:

·         A thorough knowledge and experience of project management in both retrofit and new build as either a project manager, surveyor, civil engineer or related profession

·         A thorough knowledge and experience of Irish law as either a solicitor, barrister or equivalent legal qualification

• A genuine commitment to volunteering to help provide housing for elderly people in need

Board meetings are held bi-monthly, virtually and in-person quarterly.  Travel expenses are paid where appropriate.
