Board Member

UL Student Life CLG has reached an exciting point in its development, one where strong governance, strategic thinking, and fresh perspectives are more important than ever, coupled with the recent move into its landmark new Student Centre, a striking hub designed by and for students.

We are seeking individuals who can bring expertise, independence of thought, and a genuine commitment to our mission. We are particularly interested in candidates who have expertise/experience in one or more of the following: 

-Finance 
-Governance & risk 
-Law 
-Students’ Union or similar representative/non-profit environment 

Additional desirable but non-essential criteria
-Previous experience at board-level 
-Experience in change management 
-In a current or previous senior leadership position 
-A strong understanding of governance in not-for-profit, charity, public, or membership-based organisation 
-An appreciation of democratic governance and the role of student representation 
-Experience in the higher education sector 

Time Commitment 
-Approximately 8 board meetings per year, in-person at University of Limerick for a period of 2-3 hours per meeting 
-Occasional ad-hoc meetings online to approve budget spending in line with board approval processes 
-Preperation and document review ahead of each meeting 

This is a voluntary, unremunerated role. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses may be reimbursed in line with Union policy.
