ADEEAR-L Default Sensory Accessible Education and Proactive Inclusive teaching delivery Trustee
About ADEEAR-L (Accessibility by Default in Education and Economic Inclusion Advocacy Rights by Lukwago) is currently in the process of becoming formally established as a not-for-profit organisation in Ireland. As an emerging initiative with a broader European and international vision, ADEEAR-L is currently seeking founding/proposed Directors (Trustees) to help establish its governance structure, guide its development and support the organisation in achieving its long-term mission.
ADEEAR-L is an advocacy, accessibility and inclusion initiative focused on advancing Accessibility by Default in education, employment, public services and wider society, while promoting economic inclusion and equal participation.
ADEEAR-L seeks to advance equality, accessibility and economic inclusion for people experiencing sensory accessibility barriers. It advocates for systems in which sensory accessibility is built into education, employment, public services and economic opportunities as a standard, rather than being dependent primarily on individual disclosure and reactive reasonable accommodation.
Role Purpose of ADEEAR-L Education and Inclusive Learning Trustee
To provide expertise in education and help ADEEAR-L develop its advocacy around sensory accessible, inclusive and equitable education and learning.
ADEEAR-L General Trustee Duties

ADEEAR-L Education and Inclusive Learning Trustee Role and Key Responsibilities
ADEEAR-L is seeking an individual with experience or expertise in default sensory accessible education, inclusive disability teaching, educational policy, equality, inclusive learning, proactive lecture/tutorial delivery, Sensory student support or higher education advocacy.
The Education & Inclusive Learning Trustee will provide strategic advice and contribute to ADEEAR-L’s work to promote sensory accessibility and inclusion across proactive education/teaching delivery, educational support and group learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Bring professional, voluntary or governance experience in education, default sensory accessible/disability teaching, educational policy, inclusive learning or student support.
- Advise ADEEAR-L on education policy, default sensory accessibility and inclusive learning.
- Support the development of education advocacy and awareness initiatives that promote equal access and proactive participation.
- Promote inclusive and accessible learning and teaching environments across educational settings.
- Identify systemic barriers affecting sensory disabled learners, particularly barriers to accessibility, participation, independent and group learning.
- Contribute to ADEEAR-L’s advocacy for accessibility by default in education, proactive inclusive group teaching delivery and learning support.
- Support relationships with educational institutions, educators, sensory disabled students, policymakers and other relevant education stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of education related policies, position papers, campaigns and advocacy materials.
- Support research and evidence-based approaches relating to proactive sensory accessible teaching and inclusive education.
- Advise on approaches that can improve educational participation, progression and outcomes for learners experiencing accessibility barriers.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with schools, universities, further education providers, training organisations and other educational stakeholders.
- Contribute to ADEEAR-L’s education and inclusive learning strategy in Ireland, with potential European and international relevance.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience in education, proactive inclusive teaching, educational leadership or disability student education support.
- Knowledge of default accessible education and proactive inclusive group teaching delivery or learning practices.
- Understanding of default sensory accessibility barriers within group education/teaching delivery.
- Knowledge of education policy and educational systems.
- Experience supporting learners with different sensory accessibility or learning needs.
- Experience in education advocacy, awareness campaign, equality, disability, human rights legal and policy development, research, review and reform.
- Understanding of equality, sensory accessibility and proactive inclusion in education delivery.
- Experience working with public educational institutions or education stakeholders.
- Strong research, analytical and policy skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to identify and challenge sensory accessibility systemic barriers in education delivery and develop practical recommendations.
- Ability to contribute effectively at ADEEAR-L or Board level.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Trustees, educators, learners and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to advance equality, accessibility, independent participation and proactive inclusive learning.
- Commitment to ADEEAR-L’s principle of accessibility by systematic design rather than relying solely on reactive support or individual accommodations.
Experience in disability, sensory accessibility, human rights, equality, advocacy, education policy or the not-for-profit sector would be particularly valuable.
