Accountant

The Board Member with Responsibility for Financial and Audit Oversight will play a critical role in ensuring the organisation operates with strong Financial Governance, Transparency and Sustainability.

This Role will provide independent oversight and constructive challenge in relation to Financial Planning, Reporting, Internal Controls and Audit Processess while supporting the Board in fulfilling its Statutory and Fiduciary Responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Oversee the Financial Health and Sustainability of the Organisation
  • Review and Provide Challenge on, Annual Budgets, Management Accounts and Financial Forecasts and Cash Flow Projections.
  • Ensure Appropriate Financial controls, policies, and procedures are in place and adhered too.
  • Monitor Financial Performance against agreed targets and strategic objectives.
  • Support the Board in meeting its obligations under the Charities Regulator and other relevant regulatory Bodies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and statutory filings.
  • Provide input into the organisation's long term financial strategy
  • Advise on Financial Sustainability, including Funding Diversification, Cost Management and Financial Resilience.
  • Actively contribute to Board Discussions, bringing a financial Lens to decision making.
  • Participate in or where appropriate chair, a Finance and/or Audit Sub committee.
  • Provide Constructive challenge and independent judgement in all Board Deliberations.
  • Support the Board in maintaining high standards of governance and Accountability.
  • Attendance at approximately 10-12 Board Meetings per year
  • Participation in subcommittee meetings (If applicable)
  • Estimated commitment 1-2 Hours per Month
