Institute of Guidance Counsellors

The Institute of Guidance Counsellors (IGC) is the professional body for guidance counsellors comprising of approximately 1,400 members, encompassing qualified professionals who work in a broad variety of settings. These include Second Level schools, FET, HEIs, Adult Education, Youth Services, the Prison Service, Probation Services and Private Practice.

Our management, board of directors, governance and auditing structures ensure that our strategy and activities are aligned at all times to our funding conditions. Having registered as a company limited by guarantee at our 2017 AGM, we reviewed and updated policies and practices where appropriate to meet the necessary SORP requirements. Part of this process was the consolidation of accounts within the Institute and the subsuming of branch accounts.
