Charity Trustee – Fund-raising Role
The Organisation:
The Neurology Support Centre is a Sligo-based charity, serving those in the Northwest impacted by a neurological condition. Our mission is to provide a range of quality services, supports and activities that will improve the quality of life for all those impacted by a neurological condition; to promote research that can make a tangible difference; and to support the provision of clinical neurological services in our local hospitals.
Our member services include Peer Support Groups, Counselling, holistic therapies including Reflexology and Neuro-reflexology, and other recreational activities including Art, gardening, exercise, etc.
The Role:
The Neurology Support Centre is seeking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our Board of Trustees. This is a unique opportunity to use your skills and connections to help shape the future of our charity and make a real difference in the lives of those affected by neurological conditions.
Charities Regulator’s General Duties of a Charity Trustee:
- Comply with the Charity’s governing document
- Ensuring charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
- Acting in the best interest of the charity
- Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
- Manage the assets of your charity
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or partnership development
- Brings a network of potential supporters or corporate contacts
- Has a genuine interest in neurology, neurological research, or patient support
- Can contribute strategically as part of a collaborative, passionate board
About the Role
As a Board Member with fundraising expertise, you will:
- Provide strategic guidance on fundraising initiatives
- Help develop and strengthen donor relationships
- Support the planning of fundraising campaigns and events
- Advocate for our mission and expand our network of supporters

Board Meetings:
There will be 4 board meetings and up to 4 sub-committee meetings a year. Meetings are generally held in Molloway House, Sligo but can be joined remotely also.
You will be expected to attend training for board members as required.
