Trustee with Finance experience

General duties of a charity Trustee:

  • Comply with the charity’s governing document
  • Ensuring the charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
  • Acting in the best interest of the charity
  • Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
  • Manage the assets of the charity

Additional responsibilities of a NiteLine Trustee:

  • Provide mentorship support to NiteLine’s third-level student committee
  • Provide input to the strategic direction of NiteLine and contribute with insight, oversight, and experience of strategy formulation
  • Maintain the ethos of NiteLine 
  • Drive to provide a high-quality service

Responsibilities specific to this role:

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with NiteLine’s financial policies and procedures 
  • Ensure that NiteLine’s financial practices are in line with regulations and legislation
  • Provide guidance on the development and enhancement of the internal financial control framework
  • Assist in the identifying and mitigating risk
  • Review monthly reconciliations, financial reports and financial analysis 
  • Assist in the development of additional high-quality financial reports and key performance indicators
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts and other financial transactions
  • Safeguard NiteLine’s assets and ensure overall financial stability
  • Assist in budgetary planning and monitoring expenditure against budget 
  • Prepare and review the annual financial statements 
  • Act as a mentor and provide guidance to NiteLine’s Finance Officer
  • Advise the board on a wide variety of finance issues
  • Advise the board in relation to regulatory compliance with the CRO and the Charities Regulator 
  • Liaise with NiteLine’s Director of Legal & Regulatory Affairs and Director of Marketing
  • Liaise with and advising the NiteLine’s student-run committee


  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience

Board Meetings:

Meetings will take place on a monthly basis. 


This is a voluntary position. In certain circumstances, travel expenses can be paid in line with NiteLine’s policy.
