Trustee with expertise in Capital Development, Investing and/or Housing

Brothers of Charity is a provider of services and supports to persons with intellectual disabilities/autism and their families. Our mission is to engage with people of goodwill in building a better world for those in danger of being marginalised. We are committed to working with people with an intellectual disability/autism to claim their rightful place as valued and equal citizens. In keeping with our Ethos, we work to provide individualised supports and services based on the needs and choices of each person.

Brothers of Charity provide supports to 6500 people over 10 counties and employ 3200 whole time staff. Brothers of Charity operate from over 600 buildings and run a transport fleet of over 700 vehicles 

The Role:

Brothers of Charity are seeking to add expertise to the Board.  To support a new phase of development within the organisation, and in line with Governance arrangements, an Independent Board Director/ Trustee is now sought to help shape our Strategic Objectives and priorities in the coming years from 2021-2025.

If you feel you can make a difference, are motivated and have relevant expertise as well as genuinely interested in the work of our organisation we are seeking expertise in at least one of the following areas:

  • Capital Development,
  • Social Impact Investing
  • Property and/or Housing

As the organisation is currently expanding services and will be embarking on a new strategy this will be an excellent time to join for those who have an interested in providing support at a strategic level to those with an intellectual disability.

General Board Responsibilities will include the following:

•Comply with the Organisation’s governing document

•Committing to the highest levels of corporate governance

•Providing input to the strategic direction of the organisation

•Attend occasional events, training, and seminars

Board Meetings:

Board Meetings are held 4-5 times per year are rotated around the BOCSI locations along the western and southern seaboards.  Meetings are currently being held on zoom and are expected to go back to in-person meetings going forward. The appointed individual will also be expected to join the Audit committee which meets in advance of each Board meeting.
