Laois Partnership Company is seeking to fill a number of upcoming vacancies on its voluntary Board of Directors, due to rotation of existing members. The voluntary Board (min 7: max 12) meet approximately 10 times/year; hold regular in-person meetings and operate four Board subcommittees, as follows:
- Governance Risk and Compliance
- Finance and Audit Committe
- Nominations Committee
- Local Action Group Subcommittee (LEADER programme).
The main duties of Board members is to:
- provide good governance and oversight
- comply with the Charities Governance Code, and other legislative requirements
- Manage the company's resources in a responsible and transparent manner
- Ensure the company is carrying out its charitable purpose
- Act in the best interest of the company
Essential Experience and Attributes:
- Prior board or committee experience
- Strong leadership, communication and facilitation skills
- Understanding of or interest in the Irish community/voluntary or rural development sector
- Commitment to the values of transparency, participation, and community development
- Willingness to contribute time, skills and energy on a voluntary basis
Desirable:
- Experience in rural regeneration, sustainability, governance, and/or social enterprise development
- Familiarity with Co Laois.
