About Respect:
Respect provides support and funding to improve the lives of people with intellectual disability in the care of Avista (formerly known as the Daughters of Charity Disability Support Services). We do this by improving the surroundings and the independence of supported individuals, through capital building projects and ground breaking research initiatives.
The Role:
We are seeking a new trustee with a Marketing and Communications background to help oversee the development of the organisation’s brand moving forward. If you have experience in this area and want to play a role in helping us, we’re keen to hear from you.
The ideal candidate will have a background in Communications, PR, Marketing, Brand Management and/or Brand Strategy.
General Trustee duties of a Charity Trustee:
- Comply with the Charity’s governing document
- Ensuring charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
- Acting in the best interest of the charity
- Act with reasonable care and skill
- Manage the assets of your charity
General Responsibilities of a Marketing Trustee will include the following:
- To oversee the development and implementation of an integrated strategic marketing plan to develop the brand identity of the organisation.
- To assist the executive in developing market position and brand of the charity to a variety of audiences to enable it to fulfil its mission and aims.
- To oversee the development of a marketing and fundraising strategy that will allow the organisation to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences including the media and key influencers.
- To review the ongoing development of the organisation’s marketing and fundraising strategy in conjunction with the executive and the Board.
Desirable:
- It would be a benefit (but not a pre-requisite) for the trustee to have experience or an understanding of disability and the disability sector.
Board Meetings:
- There are at least 6 board meetings on a yearly basis and are usually conducted virtually (with the occasional in-person meeting).
- You will be expected to be pre-read all documents necessary in advance of these meetings.
