Dublin Book Festival CLG is a not-for-profit company which runs the Dublin Book Festival (dublinbookfestival.com), a literary festival typically held in November in Dublin. With a full programme of events for schools, children, families and adults alike, it is a celebration of writing and publishing in the 32 counties of Ireland. Supported by the Arts Council, Dublin City Council and others, with a range of partner venues throughout the city, it has been held online in 2020 and will be again in 2021.
The voluntary board consists of three nominees from Publishing Ireland, the sole member of the company, as well as one from a partner organisation and the Treasurer/Company Secretary. The Board is responsible for the governance of the organisation, and for providing strategic direction to the festival and support to the executive.
Dublin Book Festival is seeking a new board member to act as Honorary Treasurer and Secretary of the Company. This person should have the following attributes:
- Be a member of a recognised accountancy body, or have a formal accounting qualification or have significant experience in the area of financial reporting and company secretarial roles (essential)
- Experience of the financial management and governance of non-profit organisations (preferable)
- Interest in books and culture
This is a board and supervisory role, and its scope does not include bookkeeping and transaction management.
Board meetings are held quarterly, currently by Zoom, and last for 2 hours approximately.
