The Organisation:

COPD Support Ireland is a charity set up to support all those living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We are Ireland’s only national COPD support and advocacy body, bringing together local support groups from around the country, to help those living with, and caring for someone with, COPD. We were founded in 2013 by patients working with the support of the Irish Thoracic Society, COPD National Clinical Programme, and health care professionals.


Treasurer/Financial Skillset

  • Knowledge of financial governance, ideally charity financial governance.

  • Experience of preparing accounts for Auditor

  • ACA or CIMA qualification preferred, ideally with at least 5 years’ senior management experience.


In addition to general duties and role as a Member of the Board, to specifically: -

  • Monitor, review and advise on all financial policies and controls to ensure the organisation is compliant with the Charity Regulator’s Governance Code, all statutory requirements and best practice principles.
  • Lead the Board’s oversight of compliance and risk management in the organisation.

  • Work with management to prepare regular financial management reports for the Board and Staff and Finance Committee.

  • Chair the Finance Committee.

  • Advise the Board as required on financial implications of proposals, projections, cash flow problems etc.

  • To be an authorised signatory of the Charity.

  • Oversee the preparation of budgets, accounts and financial statements, ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.

  • Assist with reporting obligations for grants.

  • Work with the auditor on the preparation of annual accounts, to be presented at the AGM.


Board Meetings:

The Board meet every 6-8 weeks and meetings will be held on a hybrid basis going forward
