Treasurer

Signal Arts Centre is a vibrant cultural organisation based in Bray. We firmly believe in connecting with the community to foster arts participation, appreciation, and recognition and in delivering a positive impact. We value creativity, openness, collaboration and integrity.

As a registered charity, Signal is governed by an independent Board. Our volunteer Board Members play an active and crucial role in the development of Signal.  Our organisation is led by our Creative Director, supported by working artists and staff.

Responsibilities

This volunteer, non-fee-paying role involves taking on the Treasury function. You will take a lead role in presenting and interpreting financial reports to the Board that involves a distinction between restricted and non-restricted income streams. Signal operates a Community Employment (CE) Scheme, and although previous experience with the Scheme is not required, it would be an advantage.

Because Signal is a small organisation, this role requires hands-on involvement in overseeing the production of monthly management accounts, ensuring effective controls are in place and providing mentoring and guidance to staff.  This would likely involve 1 ½ days per month as well as attendance at monthly meetings.

Skills and qualities

We need relevant expertise and experience to contribute to the delivery of an ambitious strategy. A qualification in accountancy and/or financial management is required.  If you have experience in strategy development and implementation, fundraising, grant applications and/or exposure to building development this would be to our mutual advantage. An interest in the arts and/or community engagement is desirable.
