Subcommittee role: Responsibility for Fundraising

Our Organisation:

Paralympics Ireland is the National Member in Ireland of Boccia International Sports Federation (BISFED) and governs the sport via a Sub-Committee of Paralympics Ireland called Boccia Ireland. The vision is for Boccia Ireland to become an independent autonomous NGB by 2025

Boccia Ireland is actively seeking expressions of interest from suitable candidates with necessary skills to sit on the Boccia Ireland subcommittee

Overview of the Role

Boccia Ireland is looking for an individual who is interested in joining our subcommittee with responsibility for fundraising to provide Boccia Ireland with the necessary resources to both promote and develop the sport. This role directly influences success and standard of Boccia at all levels within the Republic of Ireland.

Key Tasks

  • Develop a fundraising strategy for Boccia Ireland whilst not impinging on existing commercial arrangements that Paralympics Ireland may have.
  • Strategize for funding to be on a long-term basis.
  • Be aware of the funds that are available on both a national basis from Sport Ireland, Department of Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht as well as funding from local authorities on a regional basis.
  • Potential funding from altruistic sources.
  • Encourage sharing & spread of best practices
  • Promote the values of the game
  • Administrative duties as required to assist the development of Boccia Ireland

Time Period and Commitment

  • Possible work may be required on weekends/evenings.
  • Attendance of monthly board meetings.
  • Meetings will generally be held at the Irish Sport HQ.
  • As required to carry out the role of fundraising.
  • Commitment, initially, of one year is required. We are preparing for the European Championships in 2021 and the Paralympics in Paris 2024 so preference will be given to the candidates who are prepared to give a longer-term commitment

Location

Irish Sport HQ, National Sports Campus, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.

However, unless the person is close to the meeting venue, participation in the board meeting shall be via teleconference or using Zoom/Teams technology.

  • A proven team player

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience of fundraising would be desirable.
  • Previous sports industry experience
  • Previous voluntary positions

Expenses

  • This is a voluntary position however reasonable and verifiable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

Other Requirements

  • Successful completion of Garda Vetting with Paralympics Ireland
  • Completion of Schedule 2 of Paralympics Ireland Participant Rules
  • A willingness to sign a Boccia Ireland board member code of conduct.
