Specialist Volunteer (Board Director with Foróige)

The Board of Foróige is seeking an individual to be appointed as a Specialist Volunteer. The Specialist Volunteer will bring required skills to the Board and Governance of Foróige in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance (preferred)
  • HR
  • Governance 
  • IT
  • Experience of engaging with the Public Sector

Please see below the requirements relating to each of the specific skill sets required; 

  • Finance: A minimum of five years’ relevant work experience in financial management, audit, or accountancy. Demonstrated ability to oversee financial controls, ensure compliance with statutory obligations and accounting standards (e.g., SORP, FRS102), and facilitate strategic financial planning at a senior level. 
  • HR (Human Resources): A minimum of five years’ relevant work experience in HR management or a related people-management discipline. Proven track record in areas such as recruitment, employee relations, legislative compliance, and the development/implementation of HR policies and procedures. 
  • Governance:  A minimum of five years’ relevant work experience in non profit or corporate governance, policy development, or risk management. Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with charity and company law, regulatory frameworks, and board best practice, with experience in implementing strategic oversight and risk mitigation policies. 
  • Experience of engaging with the Public Sector: a minimum of five years relevant work experience with demonstrated ability/experience of engagement with the public sector

In addition to the skill set outlined above candidates should have the following; 

E = Essential
D = Desirable

  • Shared understanding of the purpose of Foróige or similar outlook to Foróige regarding young people/human development/people management (E)
  • Proven track record in one of more areas of expertise required (E)
  • Appreciation and understanding of the not-for-profit sector (E)
  • Strong problem solving and an ability to ensure decisions are taken and followed up (E)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills (E)
  • Experience as a Board member/Director of an organisation similar in size/scale of Foróige (D)
  • Pre-existing relationship with Foróige (D)
  • Volunteer Experience (D
