Poppintree Early Education Centre is governed by a voluntary Board of Management that performs key roles in guiding the direction, leadership and corporate governance of the organisation. At present, six Board Members represent the local community and bring a range of experience and expertise. This includes individuals with experience in early childhood education, primary school leadership, financial and banking expertise, and support for children with special educational needs. The Board of Management would welcome additional membership, particularly those with interests in human resource management, health and wellbeing and marketing and communications. Given our new outdoor play area, we would also support and advice from those with knowledge or interest in ‘Grow your Own’ and environmental sustainability.
The Board meets 6-8 times per year (currently online meetings), with each meeting lasting no longer than 90 minutes. Board members are encouraged to participate in discussions that support effective governance through an awareness of local-level needs, support for organisational planning and review of service delivery. Information, advice and support on corporate governance in the community and voluntary sector will be made available, with opportunities for participation in relevant governance training if this is an area of interest. All Board members are invited to attend and participate in our family and community events within the centre, including seasonal celebrations and the not-to-be-missed summer BBQ! All Board members are required to complete Garda Vetting and registration with CRO.
