Finance and Risk Sub Committee Volunteer Member - Finance/Audit/Risk Advisor

CDI is funded under the Government’s Area Based Childhood Programme (ABC), which builds on the learning to date from the Prevention and Early Intervention Programmes (PEIP). The initiative aims to break the cycle of child poverty in areas where it is most deeply entrenched and to improve the outcomes for children and young people where these are currently significantly poorer than they are for children and young people living elsewhere in the Irish State.

Based in Tallaght West, CDI was initially established through a partnership between the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) and The Atlantic Philanthropies (AP), under the PEIP, which was set up with “the objective of testing innovative ways of delivering services and early interventions for children and young people, including the wider family and community settings,” (DCYA, 2011). Through innovative partnerships, CDI brings together the science of evidence-based practice and rigorous evaluation, with the spirit of an approach focused on the identified needs of children and families.

We design, deliver and evaluate programmes across a spectrum of local needs including language, literacy, health, early years, conflict management, and community safety.  All CDI programmes are evidence-informed and manualised and are delivered through existing structures and services.

CDI is now looking for suitably experienced, socially minded, and committed individuals to join its existing governance structures in order to help CDI achieve its objectives.

Purpose:

Volunteer to participate on CDI Finance/Audit/Risk Committee, working with the committee to help monitor various financial, audit, and broader sectoral issues and risks in relation to CDI. The committee will report to and provide guidance to the CDI Board on all matters relating to the CDI’s finances/audit issues/potential risks.

Responsibilities:

• Be a member of the CDI Finance/Audit/Risk committee
• Provide the committee with expertise and advice in relation to Finance/Audit/Risk matters pertaining to CDI
• Attend meetings of the Finance/Audit/Risk committee 4-6 times per year. Meet with the CEO and committee members to review Finance/Audit/Risk matters when required 

Personal Specification:

• A minimum of 5 years experience working in a senior role in risk management/ compliance/ insurance or aligned sectors
• Previous experience of Board/Committee membership would be preferred
• Previous experience or a demonstrable understanding of the community/voluntary sector is desirable

Meeting Times:

• Finance and Risk Committee meetings 4 - 6 times per year
• Meetings with Office and Finance Manager as necessary, by mutual arrangement
• It is important that the Board Member could commit to this role for a minimum period of two years.

• Support will be provided from the existing Finance and Risk Committee and the Office and Finance Manager in relation to this role
