Director with Communications & Fundraising experience

Suicide or Survive (SOS) are now seeking a new volunteer board member to lead and support with Fundraising/Communications experience 

This is an important and exciting time in SOS’s development following the appointment of a new Chair and CEO who aim to lead a new chapter in the organisations development with the goal of continuing to expand on the success, growth and impact of the  strong and well respected programmes that have been developed over the years.

General Trustee duties

  • Comply with the organisation’s governing document
  • Ensuring the organisation is complying with its constitution for the public benefit
  • Act in the best interest of the organisation
  • Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
  • Manage the assets of the organisation

Responsibilities of the Fundraising/Communications Director will include the following:

  • The Director will lead the Fundraising and Communications Sub-Committee, supporting the CEO and staff
  • Provide guidance on the development and enhancement of communications and fundraising policies, procedures and practice
  • To support the CEO and staff in identifying new fundraising opportunities and revenue streams for SOS and advising on strategic reputation management

Ideal Experience Required

  • The ideal candidate will join a committed Board of Trustees to achieve SOS’s vision and to continue to develop the organisation
  • The candidate will have ideally have at least 5 years senior management experience in a fundraising/communications role
  • Experience in the not for profit sector would be an advantage

Board Meetings:

  • There will be 4 Board meetings a year. Meetings are held in Dublin, or online until the restrictions ease. Meetings tend to last approximately 90 minutes and require 3-4 hours preparation
  • This member may also Chair a Fundraising and Communications Sub-Committee which is also expected to meet 4 times each year
