The Opportunity: Help shape the Future of Mental Health in the West

Helplink Mental Health is at a pivotal point in its journey. Having delivered almost 9,000 counselling sessions in 2025 across Galway, Mayo, and our national online platform, we are looking for a visionary clinical leader to join our Board of Directors.

As a Clinical Oversight Trustee, you won’t just be attending meetings; you will be a primary guardian of our clinical integrity. You will ensure that as we scale, our services—from Play Therapy to Addiction Counselling—remain gold-standard, ethically robust, and deeply impactful.

The Role

This is a voluntary, strategic leadership position. You will act as the "Clinical Conscience" of the Board, providing:

• Strategic Oversight: Monitoring and improving the quality and safety of our diverse service streams.

• Policy Leadership: Ensuring our clinical frameworks meet the highest legal and ethical standards.

• Expert Counsel: Advising the Executive Director and Board on emerging clinical risks and best practices.

• Safeguarding Support: Acting as Deputy Designated Liaison Person (DLP) to ensure robust child and vulnerable adult protection.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a peer-recognized professional who lives/works in the West of Ireland and possesses:

• Credentials: Fully Qualified & Accredited (IACP, IAHIP, PSI, or equivalent) Counsellor, Psychotherapist, or Clinical/Counselling Psychologist.

• Experience: A minimum of 5+ years in clinical practice. Experience in Clinical Supervision is highly desirable.

• Sector Insight: A sophisticated understanding of the voluntary/community mental health sector.

• Commitment: Availability for 10 Board meetings per year (a mix of in-person in Galway and remote), plus committee work.
