Board members with legal, HR or financial/accountancy experience

An Mheitheal Rothar is a not for profit cooperative in Galway City, focused on bike repair, education and community resilience to climate change.

We started our journey in 2012 as a student society, evolved into an incorporated social enterprise in 2021 and have steadily grown into a thriving social enterprise currently employing 8 and turning over just under €500,000/annum. 

We seek forward thinking board members with specific skills, as well as enthusiasm for the social economy and cooperative values. A tendency to see the sustainable transport potential in a rusty bike also helps.

We are looking for:

Legal knowledge -  to help us ensure we manage any legal risks, advise on regulatory compliance, look over contracts, etc.

HR knowledge -  to advise on employment contracts, HR issues that arise, compliance with employment law etc

Finance or accountancy knowledge -  to help us achieve best practice with all our banking, purchasing, cash flow, strategic planning etc.

Ideally you will be Galway based or nearby to Galway as we prefer in-person meetings where possible. We try to keep demands on board members to 4-6 meetings per year, along with occasional strategy meetings.
