KARE provides support to people who have an intellectual disability and their families. We were founded in 1967 and work in the mid and south Kildare, East Offaly, West Wicklow and Northeast Carlow. We believe that people with an intellectual disability are important and should be a part of their community like everyone else. KARE works with each individual who uses the service to support them to develop their skills and abilities so that they can live the life of their choice.
KARE is an innovative organisation that strives for continuous improvement and best practice in all it does. The organisation is accredited at European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Recognised for Excellence 5-Star level and were the 2016 EFQM Ireland Excellence Award winners.
We are currently seeking new Board Members to join our board. We are seeking individuals with an interest in disability who are committed to continuous service improvement.
We are ideally seeking individuals who have specific experience in any of the following areas:
- Health / Social Care sector
- Fundraising
As a registered charity our board members do not receive payment for their services.
Candidates must have sufficient time to fulfil the role which includes:
- Monthly board meetings (minimum of 8 evening meetings)
- Annual General Meeting
- Membership of any subcommittee - There are three sub-committees of the board:

- Finance & Audit
- Quality/Risk & Safety
- Remunerations and Nominations

Appointment to the Board will be contingent on satisfactory garda vetting and overseas police vetting where applicable.
