About Cheshire Ireland
Cheshire Ireland, with the support of HSE funding, provides individualised, person-centred supports to adults with physical disabilities and neurological conditions in Ireland. These services are provided to people in a variety of settings including residential services, respite services and in the homes of people living in the community.
The Role
Cheshire Ireland is inviting applications for a voluntary board member. Please note this is not a paid role as the board of directors do not receive payment for their time. However, travel allowances and expenses will be recoverable in line with the Cheshire Ireland Policy.
Cheshire Ireland is recruiting for a Board Director with a background in Human Resource Management. If you have experience in this area and would like to use your skills and knowledge to benefit Cheshire Ireland and the people it supports, we want to hear from you.
The Board is responsible for the overall governance, strategic oversight, and financial sustainability of the organisation. As workforce development, organisational culture, and effective people management play an important role in delivering high-quality services and supporting organisational resilience, the Board is seeking a member who can provide specialist insight and strategic guidance.
Required Skills:
The candidate will have a relevant third level qualification and proven knowledge and experience in human resource management. They will be CIPD accredited with at least 5 years senior management experience and experience of working in unionised organisations.
Desirable Skills:
A background or expertise in Learning and Development would be advantageous.
General Responsibilities will include:
- Providing input to the strategic direction, contributing with insight, oversight and experience of Human Resource strategy formulation in other sectors.
- Comply with the Organisation’s governing document
- Committing to the highest levels of corporate governance
- Attend occasional events, training, and seminars
Board Meetings
Board Meetings are held once every two months / 6-7 per year. There will also be a commitment to serve on one or more Subcommittees which will add 4/5 meetings a year.
Meetings are usually held in the head office of Cheshire Ireland, IFC House, Ballymount Industrial Estate, Dublin 24 or within one of its services. Please note however remote access is possible and all reasonable accommodations will be considered and facilitated where possible.
