Board Member – Sunbeam House Services (multiple perspectives welcome, including lived experience of ID)
Role Description
Sunbeam House Services (SHS) provides a diverse range of supports to adults with intellectual disabilities across Wicklow and South Dublin. Our purpose is to enable the people we support to live full, meaningful lives with dignity, independence and choice.
We are seeking voluntary Board Members to contribute to our governance, oversight and strategic development. The Board ensures high standards of quality and safety, strong financial stewardship, effective risk management, and compliance with HIQA, HSE and Charities Regulator requirements.
Board Members will play a key role in delivering the SHS Strategic and Transformation Plan 2025–2030, which focuses on:

People: Enhancing the experience of the people we support and fostering a positive staff culture

Partnerships: Strengthening collaboration with funders, regulators and community partners

Governance: Ensuring accountability, transparency and person-centred outcomes

Innovation & Responsiveness: Expanding housing and support options, proactive use of technology and adapting to changing service needs
We welcome applications from:

People with professional or voluntary experience in one or more of the following areas:

Approved Housing Body (AHB) governance or housing/accommodation development
-
People with lived experience of intellectual disability and/ or autism, who can help ensure that the voices of the people we support are central to our decisions.

Legal / solicitor / company governance advisory

Social care, disability or health service delivery

Quality, safeguarding, compliance or service improvement

HR, organisational development, workforce planning and culture

Finance, audit, risk management or operational leadership

Diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, or sustainability and environmental responsibility in service delivery
Commitment
The Board meets approximately 8–10 times per year, with participation in sub-committees such as Audit, Quality, Nominations and Housing.
