Board member, possibility of treasurer position

Irish Uplands Forum is a voluntary group of people who represent the views of a diverse group of stakeholders who live, work and recreate in Ireland’s upland areas. The annual work programme of the Irish Uplands Forum is supported by The Heritage Council, which allows for one part-time employee, and a programme of events around the country. IUF also has a research brief, and details of past research can be found in the 'Activities' and 'Archives' sections of our website https://irishuplandsforum.org/ .                                            The IUF Board currently has 7 active members, and another board member is sought with skills around finance/fundraising, governance or administration. The board meets 10-11 times per year, but 9-10 of these meetings take place online (7pm, alternating between Tuesday and Wednesday evenings), so almost no travel is asked of Board members in this regard.

The Board members are asked, if possible, to attend an in-person event (locations TBC shortly) during the National Biodiversity Week 15th – 24th May, and the National heritage Week 15th-23rd August, 2026.

The Board member position may suit someone with an interest in taking on the role of a Treasurer in the future. The main aspects of a Treasurer role would be: maintaining oversight of the IUF's financial affairs; looking for ways to ensure viability; helping to develop budgets; monitoring expenditure; ensuring regulatory compliance; and reporting to the board. This role requires financial acumen and some relevant experience.

The Board will review applications and an interview will also be conducted on the phone, and/or online. The successful candidate will be required to be registered with the Companies Registration Office.
