Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS) works to ensure that Deaf people can participate as full and equal citizens in Irish society, with easy access to quality sign language interpreting services.
SLIS is funded and supported by the Citizens Information Board (CIB), and is also tasked by the National Disability Inclusion Strategy 2017-2020, to support the social inclusion of Ireland’s Deaf community.
Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS) is seeking a board member with a Human Resource background to join our board. The candidate should ideally have high-level HR expertise and experience, and a knowledge of the not for profit or related sector.
The role is to advise and support the Board in the fulfilment of the Board’s financial and legal responsibilities in relation to employees and ensure the implementation of good employment practices.
The role will be an internal source of advice and guidance to Board members on HR matters.
The role will involve advising the HR subcommittee by regularly reviewing structures, procedures and practice and considering employment and recruitment processes as they arise.
This is an exciting opportunity as SLIS has increased human resources in development and administration and has expanded a team of sign language interpreters.
There are six board meetings per year, and at least four subcommittee meetings, held in the SLIS offices in Deaf Village Ireland, Dublin 7.
