A Not-for-Profit Serving the Community
BIC Home Care is a not-for-profit organisation solely to serve its clients' best interests. It is a proud member of Dublin Home Care Partners, a collective of not-for-profit providers delivering services on behalf of the HSE across North Dublin City and County. BIC Home Care is also a founding member of the National Community Care Network (NCCN), a national body representing not-for-profit home care agencies.
The Role:
Blanchardstown and Inner-City Home Care are seeking a trustee with clinical expertise to join their board. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in healthcare disciplines such as social work, nursing, physiotherapy, or occupational therapy, and be registered with CORU (currently or previously). Applications are also welcome from individuals in other CORU-registered professions, including dieticians, speech and language therapists, podiatry, and chiropody. The successful candidate will contribute to strategic decision-making and support the improvement of care and services provided by the organisation.
Kindly Note: The Board is unable to accept applications from candidates currently employed by the Health Service Executive (HSE).

By being a trustee of Blanchardstown and Inner-City Home Care, your responsibilities will include the following:
•Clinical Oversight and Compliance: Collaborate with the board to ensure care services adhere to professional standards, health and safety regulations, and clinical guidelines, helping to maintain high-quality care delivery and compliance.
•Quality Assurance and Risk Management: Support the board in monitoring clinical outcomes and assessing risks, contributing to the formulation of strategies that improve care quality, mitigate risks, and ensure patient safety while upholding regulatory compliance.
•Governance and Ethical Decision Making: Provide expert clinical insight to the board, assisting in guiding decisions that ensure care delivery aligns with ethical standards and a patient-centered approach.
•Advocacy for Patient-Centered Care: Aid the board in advocating for the rights and well-being of service users, ensuring
that care is delivered in a compassionate, individualized manner that meets the
specific needs of patients.
•Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Help facilitate effective communication and cooperation between the board, clinical staff, and external stakeholders, contributing to the enhancement of overall performance and service delivery.
Essential/Desired Skills/Qualities required for this role:
- A strong understanding and appreciation of the Not-For-Profit sector.
- A commitment to the mission, values, and goals of Blanchardstown Inner City Home Care.
- Dedication to maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance.
- Previous experience in healthcare, with preference given to candidates who hold relevant qualifications.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements and standards, particularly those related to community care services.
- A commitment to promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and high-quality care.
- CORU registration is highly preferred.
Board Meetings
Board meetings are held every six weeks, typically on Thursday evenings starting at 5:00 or 5:30 PM. These meetings are generally in-person at the company’s offices in North Park, Finglas, Dublin 11, but virtual attendance via MS Teams is also accommodated. (Trustees are expected to attend at least four board meetings a year). The meetings typically last for around two hours, allowing ample time for discussion and decision-making. Board members are expected to participate in one of the organisation’s committees, which also meet on the same day as the board meetings.
