Board Director/ Trustee (Treasurer) with Financial/Accounting/Compliance Background

The Fingal County Childcare Committee is looking to expand and strengthen its voluntary Board of Directors (Trustees) by inviting new members to the board. 

We are currently searching for a Treasurer with previous experience working in the Irish Charity Sector.

Fingal County Childcare Committee currently support over 360 childcare providers including Childminders and Parent and Toddler Groups in the Fingal area, this in turn results in support to over 5,000 parents.

As Treasurer, you are required to sit on the Staffing and Finance Sub-committee of the Board, ensuring the Committee achieves its stated aims:

• Sit on the board of directors
• Work closely with the Finance/Office Manager and chairperson to evaluate and monitor financial activities, the adequacy of Financial controls and procedures and ensure the organisation is compliant with best practice principles.
• Have an overview of the finances to advise the Board on financial findings.
• Ensure that the organisation complies with the conditions of its Charitable Status, the Company Constitution, and all relevant codes, legislation, and regulations.
• To oversee and approve the terms and effectiveness of the annual audit and any other internal or external audits as may be judged necessary, and to make recommendations to the Board as to the appointment, pay, and conditions of the external auditor.
• Be an authorised signatory of the Charity.
• Focus on the requirements of the CRA’s Governance Code.                                                                                 

The Board sits six times per year, (bi-monthly), inclusive of an AGM.  Meetings last approx 1 hour and are held on a Monday or Tuesday morning.  Dates are fixed in January of each year.  Meetings are held virtually for the most part, two in-person.

In-person meetings are held in the Digital Office Centre, Balheary Road, Swords (K67 E5A0) or online via TEAMS

This is a voluntary role, three-year term.
