We are a registered charity committed to supporting families and children through accessible, high-quality childcare services aligned with government standards and initiatives. Our mission is to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. We do this by carrying out a prescribed Statement of Work by Department of Children, Disability and Equality annually and our budget is allocated by them each year. 

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced individual to join our Board of Directors. As a Board Director, you will play a vital role in  ensuring strong governance and support our vision to deliver on an action plan of supports to childcare services and childminders in the sector in Louth.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and contribute to long-term planning.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
  • Support financial sustainability and monitor organisational performance.
  • Advocate for Louth County Childcare and represent its interests in the community.
  • Attend regular board meetings and other occasional events.

Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrated experience in governance, leadership, or senior management.
  • Have human resource knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of childcare is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of charity operations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Time Commitment
Approximately 12 - 16hrs annually, including board meetings and occasional events.

Location
Louth County Childcare Offices are based in Dundalk and in general meetings take place here. However there are opportunities to attend remotely on occasion.
