Board Directors (all expertise welcome)

Voluntary Board Director Vacancy

Irish Seed Savers Association has been in operation since 1991, originating from an ambitious effort to create a central store of food crop seeds and fruit trees where none had previously existed. Our work to date has been to protect rare, heritage and naturalised food crop seeds and fruit trees. Our work has expanded over the years to include an education and outreach remit to not only connect more people to our work, but also to ensure the protection of these collections for the future. Further details about our work can be found at

We are expanding our current Board of Directors and welcome expertise in areas of horticulture, education, environmental policy and research, HR, legal and governance, finance, marketing and fundraising. We have 3 Board Members due to step down after long-term commitment to the organisation, so we are eager to recruit new Board members to support our work.

We have signed off on our strategic plan so are seeking strong, capable individuals with relevant expertise to help us role out this plan and help us develop long-term plans for our organisational sustainability. This is a voluntary role.

We are based just outside Scarriff, in East Clare. Our Board meet every 6-8 weeks with additional advisory groups that meet 2-4 times per year. Remote support will also be considered.

This is an exciting opportunity for those eager to contribute to the important work curating biodiversity collections, engaging communities in sustainable practices and creating greater awareness of protecting our food crop heritage for now and future generations.
